Taiwan- Western Breakfast at Jiufen, Houtong(Cat Village), Shifen

Rise and shine~
First thing I did when I woke up in the morning was to put on few more layers of clothes as it was freezing cold in Jiufen
I even put on gloves (sounds exaggerating but trust me..it was that cold for me)
The houses around our minsu
Looks old. But I like it. A lot!
Next thing
My all time favourite
Coffee!
Had my morning coffee outside the minsu
Sipping coffee
Enjoying the picturesque view
Planning the itinerary
What can be better?
The kids having their light breakfast
After the coffee session
Getting ready to go to Han Guan and have our breakfast (breakfast was included)
It required 5-10 minutes walk
As you can see
The road was very narrow
Motorbikes and cars would pass by from time to time
So you have to be very alert

What we saw on our way to Han Guan. Nice view everywhere!
Reaching Han Guan. Smileee~
The interior
The best and healthiest breakfast in Taiwan!!! Luckily they never served congee > <
My happy face when I saw foooood~
It was very relaxing
Getting a chance to eat breakfast slowly
Chit-chatting with families
An opportunity that is hard to come by
If you are there early
And if you are not afraid of cold
You can sit outside
And enjoy the picturesque scenery

After breakfast
Our driver Mr Gao (another driver) fetched us to Cat Village
Thought the kids like cats
Added it in our itinerary last minute (it was not in our itinerary earlier)
The moment we stepped into the village
Saw so many cats walking around
Besides
There were so many students with their school uniform wandering around the village
Here comes Garfield
Garfield was very unfriendly. It didn't like people touching him.
Happily patting the cat~
Here comes a dog! Hello..How are you?
Stretching~
The cats were really tame
Surprisingly
The cats and dog could get along very well
And the place was so clean
Could not find any poops on the grass

Then
We went to Shifen
The price for sky lanterns of different colors
Writing our wishes on the sky lantern
After writing everyone's wishes on the four sides of sky lantern
The next thing to do was to release it
Hope all our wishes come true
Since we released our sky lanterns on the railway
Sometimes the train would pass by
So everyone gotta move and kept the railway empty so as to allow the train to pass through
After the train passed through
Everyone went back to the railway and released their lanterns
Weird enough?
Before leaving Shifen
We went on the suspension bridge and took some photos
Luckily I do not have acrophobia
So I totally enjoyed it!
Sightseeing done
Mr Gao brought us to try Oa-Mi-Shua
It was just so-so
I did not like the green thingy on top (forgot the name of the vege)
Went back to Jiufen
Had a tea tasting session
The lady taught us many things about tea
She was so generous to let us try many types of tea
This lady actually uses her own name as the brand of the tea

Had our late lunch at this crowded place in Jiufen
We had to sit on a stool while having meal
A very different experience for all of us
Our late lunch
After filling our tummy with food
Went to walk along Jiufen Old Street again
Saw this artist selling unique musical instruments
They were handmade
He even played some Malaysian songs for us when he knew that we were from Malaysia
The shop itself already looked very artistic
A cheerful artist
Tried this snack
It was ice-cream roll with peanut brittle shaving
We all loved it!
One caucasian even thought the ice-cream on top was fish ball
Had a good laugh (no offence!)
And also this
The loquat drink
Which is very good to cure cough, sore throat etc
We bought three containers as they gave us discount
Finally
We had a chance to try this
A very famous dessert in Jiufen
It is also a must to try when you are in Jiufen!
You have to buy this at one stall then go to another place with tables and chairs to eat
We took it back to our minsu
Walking down the steep staircase
Since it was Christmas
We decided to gather everyone in our minsu to celebrate
Had our so-called private party!
Finally tried the Taiwan Beer
Simple but meaningful
Merry Christmas guys!
