Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam Day 2 - Cu Chi Tunnel & Ben Tanh Street Food Market
Cu Chi Tunnel
A system of deeply underground tunnels having several floors and alleys and branches like spider web more than 250km long with places for dining, living, meeting and fighting during the war to defend against the American
We took the half day package for the Chu Chi Tunnel tour (half day / full day available)
Prices were quite similar
Just had to bargain a bit
The first thing that our guide asked us to try was this
To experience what the tunnel felt like
The funniest thing was
I could not get out
The hole was small and deep (Okay maybe I was short)
Luckily the guide helped me out
So scary to think that I would be stuck there
As they did not have enough resources to make their own bomb
They made use of those bombs that were dropped by the American but did not detonate and made their own bomb
As a result of this
Many died during the process as sawing made the bomb heated up and exploded
After that
We had a chance to crawl inside the tunnel
Not the whole tunnel of course!
Just for the experience
It was so suffocating inside this long and narrow tunnel
It felt like it was never ending
We had to bend our body the whole time
The worse thing was
It was so dark inside and we had to use the flashlight on our phones
The tunnel that we crawled had been expanded for the sake of the tourists
I really wonder how the Viet Cong survived last time
After that
We went for some street food at the Ben Tanh Street Food Market
